Tiger Woods Rinses Celebrity Shot Again

The good news is Tiger Woods was vertical and made two swings with a wedge on Tuesday. The bad news is he rinsed one of them in the water – in public.

Speaking at Big Cedar Lodge for the unveiling of his new course design, Woods was challenged by a kid in the audience to a “friendly” range competition. Like the true competitor he is, the 14-time major winner responded, “There’s nothing friendly about it.”

As it turns out, it was more like a struggle. While it wasn’t quite like the time he put three in the drink at the Quicken Loans Media Day last year at Congressional, it still wasn’t pretty. The first swing was met with audible groans as he dunked it in the water forcing Tom Lehman to encourage him to just put the second one “on the grass.” Thankfully, he did.

Afterward, Tiger then held a Q &A session, and naturally, the 41-year-old who’s gone through three back surgeries in recent years, was asked about his health and potential timetable for a return to competition.

“The back is progressing,” Wood said, when asked about his health. “[The] first shot was crap; I hit it in the water. The second shot I stiffed it. What Mark [O’Meara] was saying at Augusta, I have good days and bad days. I have had three back operations, and that’s kind of the nature of the business, unfortunately. That’s all I can say.”
