Justin Thomas claimed the biggest prize of his career on Sunday at East Lake despite finishing runner-up in the Tour Championship. The sum of Thomas’ work was enough to edge Jordan Spieth for the season-long FedEx Cup by 660 points following the final event reset and win the biggest prize in golf.

Thomas’ all-around game has been on full display throughout the FedEx Cup Playoffs, but in the finale when he needed it most, his irons were as dialed in as anyone in the 30-man field. Thomas ranked in the top-15 in every strokes gained category, but his 5.079 strokes gained: approach to the green is what set him apart from the field.
