PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan hinted on Monday that The Tour Championship, which takes place at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, will be held in August in 2019, per the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Monahan was in Atlanta on Monday at East Lake to announce a donation to a school and local First Tee program of $2.5 million and reiterated that the intention of the PGA Tour is to complete their season so it doesn’t conflict with the NFL.
The Tour Championship was once held in November and is now scheduled for Sept. 19-23, 2018. A formal announcement on the 2019 schedule will come at the end of May to early June.
As part of the FedEx Cup, the Tour Championship moved from November to September. East Lake has been the home of the Tour Championship since 2004. Last year’s winner was Xander Schauffele, with Justin Thomas the runner-up and winner of the FedEx Cup.
