With the proliferation of legalized gambling around the United States, PGA Tour pros are hearing from more and more bettors on a weekly basis during tournaments.
This week at the Valero Texas Open, PGA Tour pro Joel Dahmen caught the ire of a daily fantasy sports player who goes by Charles Marvel on Twitter.
Dahmen made the cut on the number at 1-under par, and a Saturday round of 5-under par 67 ensured he wouldn’t fall victim to the secondary cut, either. A difficult Sunday ensued in which Dahmen shot matching 4-over par 40s to post an 8-over par round of 80,
However, midway through his final round, Marvel fired off a tweet saying Dahmen was “specializing” in bogeying the par-5s at TPC San Antonio, tagging Dahmen in the tweet.

Undoubtedly, the tweet was meant for Marvel’s cadre of followers and fellow DFS friends, but the notification made its way to Dahmen — or someone with access to his Twitter account — during the final round, resulting in a hilarious response from the pro.
Dahmen’s response made waves on social media, and eventually got Marvel to back off his original position.

Let this serve as a reminder to all golf bettors: the pros don’t care about betting tickets or your fantasy teams, and if you think they do, you may just get called out mid-round in hilarious fashion.
