Tour Pros Try to Escape The Snake Pit

The PGA Tour returns to Florida for a two-week stay leading up to the second World Golf Championship and first major of the year at the Valspar Championship. The early portion of the first two rounds from Innisbrook Golf Resort’s Copperhead Course can be seen exclusively on PGA TOUR LIVE before the televised coverage begins on Golf Channel.

Valspar’s spot on the schedule forces top players to make difficult decisions as they ramp up to the Masters, which is less than a month away. However, 19 of the top-30 in the FedEx Cup standings, as well as 13 major champions, are teeing it up at the home of the Snake Pit, which will be shown on featured hole coverage on PGA TOUR LIVE throughout the week.

Starting early on Thursday morning, Patrick Reed, Jim Furyk and Ernie Els kick off the coverage, with Henrik Stenson, defending champion Charl Schwartzel and Bubba Watson following them off of the 10th tee. On Friday, three-time winner this season Justin Thomas is joined by Daniel Berger and Steve Stricker going off No. 10, with the threesome of Bill Haas, Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland in the group behind.

The first two rounds of the Valspar Championship will be live streamed on PGA TOUR LIVE beginning at 6:45 a.m. EST, giving subscribers just shy of 12 hours of live golf that otherwise would go unseen. Through the Tour’s partnership with Twitter, the first hour-plus of the PGA TOUR LIVE broadcast can be seen for free.

Here is PGA TOUR LIVE’s schedule for Thursday.

Thursday:
Broadcast time: 6:45AM/ET – 6:00PM/ET
Twitter Window: 6:45AM/ET – Approx. 8:15AM/ET
Featured Groups – Hole 10
7:45 AM/ET: Patrick Reed / Jim Furyk / Ernie Els
7:56 AM/ET: Henrik Stenson / Charl Schwartzel / Bubba Watson

Friday:
Broadcast time: 6:45AM/ET – 6:00PM/ET
Twitter Window: 6:45AM/ET – Approx. 8:15AM/ET
Featured Groups – Hole 10
7:45 AM/ET: Justin Thomas / Daniel Berger / Steve Stricker
7:56 AM/ET: Bill Haas / Matt Kuchar / Gary Woodland

There will be Featured Hole coverage at 3:00PM/ET. Featured Hole Coverage will consist of the 15th (Par-3) and 17th (Par-3) on Thursday and Friday.

Last year’s Valspar needed more than 72 holes to be decided. The difficult Innisbrook track left Schwartzel and Bill Haas tied at 7-under par, two strokes better than their nearest competitor, Ryan Moore. A par four on the 18th, the first playoff hole, gave Schwartzel his first PGA Tour win since the 2011 Masters.
