Bryan Plays in Record Time, Leishman Wins BMW

In a world where pace of play is a hot-button topic, one man proved you don’t need much time to squeeze in a round of golf. On Sunday, Wesley Bryan set an unofficial record PGA Tour record during the final round of the BMW Championship when he completed 18 holes in a blistering one hour and 28 minutes!

With only 69 players in the field (since Danny Lee withdrew earlier in the week), Bryan was a six-over heading into Sunday meaning he would play solo. With nothing to lose since he was 25 shots behind the lead and mathematically out of the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings, the 27-year-old trick-shot-artist-turned-Tour-pro decided to make the most of the situation by breaking Kevin Na’s one-hour, 59-minute pace that was set at the 2016 Tour Championship.

Bryan carded a 69 that included three birdies, 14 pars and just one bogey – all in under 90 minutes! Afterward, he was gassed!

However, the day belonged to Australian Marc Leishman, who fired a final round 5-under 67 going wire-to-wire for his third PGA Tour win of his career and the second of this year. The 33-year-old posted 29 birdies over the four days to finish at 23-under par and coast to a five-shot victory.

Justin Rose, who closed the gap to two on the back nine until Leishman slammed the door with three birdies in the last four holes, finished runner-up alongside Rickie Fowler.  Jason Day ended up solo fourth.

Here’s a look at the final round highlights and results from the 2017 BMW Championship:

The next stop on the PGA Tour is the final stop in the FedEx Cup Playoffs (top 30) and a winner will be crowned: The Tour Championship at East Lake GC, Atlanta, Georgia.

Here are the top-five in the FedEx Cup standings who control their fate with a win at East Lake: Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman, and Jon Rahm.
