Ariya Jutanugarn is one of the best golfers on the planet. The 23-year-old Thai has won 10 times on the LPGA Tour, which includes a pair of major championships.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings, she’s playing some of the best golf of her life, but even the best player in the world is susceptible to the humbling travails of the game.
Playing in front of her home fans this week at the Honda LPGA Thailand in Chonburi, Jutanugarn experienced every pro golfer’s worst nightmare. Teeing off on the par-4 14th hole in the first round on Thursday, Jutanugarn cold topped her tee shot.
After the initial surprise of the botched tee ball settled in, Jutanugarn couldn’t do anything but laugh. She managed a bogey on the hole, but still shot 4-under par for her round.
Through two rounds, Ariya sits seven shots back 36-hole leader Jenny Shin, and three shots back of her older sister, Moriya.
