Jason Day Was The Victim Of A Hilarious Misidentification

When you’re the No. 1-ranked golfer on the planet, you get used to being recognized, signing autographs and having fans scream out your name just to get a passing glance. That’s a long way of saying Jason Day isn’t used to hearing is his name butchered, but that’s exactly what happened on the first tee of the BMW Championship on Thursday.

Teeing off alongside Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson, Day was introduced as “Jordan Day.” The wrong name must have rattled Day as he went on to bogey his first two holes of the round en route to a 1-over par 73. That score left him eight shots back of overnight leader Roberto Castro who was among the two-thirds of the field that completed their first rounds on Thursday.

Rain and lightening forced play to be suspended for just under four hours, but with a little luck on Friday, the first and second rounds should be completed heading into the weekend.

Here are the highlights from the first day of the BMW.

This is how things stood before the restart Friday morning. The complete leaderboard can be found here.
