Rory McIlroy Meets Will Smith, a.k.a. “Fresh Prince”

Rory McIlroy was a little more than a year old when “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” first appeared on television in September 1990, but that doesn’t mean he’s unfamiliar with the show’s star, Will Smith.

McIlroy tweeted about his encounter with the “Fresh Prince” at the golf course.

Will Smith showed off that “good golf swing” on the show, too, with his Uncle Phil (the late James Avery) in a episode of the show.

Rory’s run in with Smith isn’t the first time the popular 90s show and pro golfers have crossed paths. During the Presidents Cup last fall, Tiger Woods and Matt Kuchar used the handshake made famous on the show by Smith and his buddy DJ Jazzy Jeff.

I guess it’s not surprising that a show with avid golfers like Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro has managed to make its mark on popular golf culture, too.
