Way too many people struggle to hit a very simple pitch. To hit a high, soft shot that lands softly, you simply need to have the enough loft and proper bounce. Most people understand loft, but the bounce is one of those things many golfers don’t know how to use correctly.
The bounce of the wedge is the trailing edge of the club that allows the club to slide along the ground. You never want to have the leading edge digging into the ground on these shots. Using a simple checkpoint halfway back, you can identify if you’re properly setting the club to deliver the bounce through impact, or if you’re closing the face down and introducing the leading edge.
