If you’re struggling to get the proper turn and pivot in the backswing, you’re likely not making the kind of contact you’d prefer. Using a driver or a 3-wood, get into your normal golf posture and take the golf club and put it behind the middle of your back.
With your arms hanging over the club, turn and pivot as if you were taking a backswing. This will allow you to feel how high your trail shoulder gets and how much tilt over your front side there should be in the backswing. When you make this turn and hold it, you’ll develop an awareness of the proper position so that when you’re making a normal swing, you’ll be able to replicate that position and deliver better contact.
