At some point, everyone hits their ball into the deep grass and deep rough and you’ve got to know what to do when you get in this grass. Here’s the mistake everybody makes when they get in this situation, they think chip shots. They’re trying to hit it like a regular little chip shot, but it doesn’t come out.

Instead, get in there and think bunker shot. You have to explode this out of there because there’s grass around the ball grabbing it and holding it there. So, open the face, get your knees bent, widen your stance out, be aggressive, and explode the ball out of there. Just like a bunker shot. Thinking bunker shot instead of chip shot will help you save shots, and you won’t need one, two, or three-chip shots to get on the green.
