Here is a drill for hitting the ball on the downslope. On the downslope, the pressure is going to be more into your lead foot, but the only way you hit it solidly is to really rotate on top of the ball and feel like the exit is going more left. The chest is now encouraged to rotate, the hips are encouraged to rotate, the path encouraged to kick out with the clubhead shutting and then everything is going to go a little steeper and to the left but at least then you’ve got an appreciation for how much you need to rotate in order to hit this ball solidly. You really have to get on top of the ball and have that club kick out in order to hit it solidly. From there, you take that feeling back to the flat and then you’ll really get rid of that hook and that big push.
