A Crucial, Yet Overlooked Part Of Your Setup

The positions of the toes are a crucial part of your setup that often gets overlooked. My preference for you is to have both toes just slightly out. What that’s going to enable you to do is really rotate the pelvis better in the backswing. That’s going to help your hand path get deeper and be able to rotate the pelvis on the through swing too so you would be able to support the face.

Most importantly, it’s going to help you with your ball position. We talked about how we wanted 3 inches inside the lead heel but if you get your toes too far to the left, even though the ball position is good, it looks like it’s way back in your stance. If you get them too far to the right, the ball position is good, but it looks like it’s too far forward in your stance.

If you start opening the toe, the ball position is good, but it looks like it’s way back and if start opening the right foot now it looks like it’s way too far forward.

So do me a favor, get the toes just fractionally out. They’ll help you get the ball position in the right spot and from there you’ll be in a much better position with your body to be able to rotate within your pelvis.
