When you’re confronted with severe downhill lies, we’ve got to have two considerations — the strategy of the downhill lie and the execution of the downhill lie.

For too many people, the shot is doomed before they even swing because of bad strategy. If you take a 6-iron, because the lie is going to take loft off of the club, it’s going to greatly strengthen the effective loft of the club.

From an execution standpoint, too many people are trying to help the ball into the air. Instead, bend your lead leg some more and swing along the slope.
