Let’s talk about a situation where the ball ends up in a divot and you have to hit a shot from the fairway onto the green.

All we need is a steeper angle into the golf ball, which means we need to catch the ball as the club is descending more. Set the ball a little bit more back in your stance with the handle more forward and that’ll help compress the ball out of that line.

Now you’ve got an even deeper divot because you hit down on it, compressed the golf ball, and hit a beautiful shot onto the green.
