The festering rivalry between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau spilled into the public on Wednesday following the leaked interview of Koepka from the PGA Championship and the announcement of an upcoming exhibition match that will feature DeChambeau.
The video, which shows Koepka clearly distracted and annoyed by DeChambeau walking behind him with metal spikes, garnered viral attention online and turned itself into a prime meme candidate.
It’s become customary for the participants in these made-for-television matches to engage in some light-hearted trash talk on social media as part of the marketing effort, but before Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady could get involved — he’ll be teaming up in the upcoming Match alongside Phil Mickelson and against DeChambeau and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers — Koepka launched the first bit of trash talk out into the public domain with a simple two-word tweet.
Sorry bro @AaronRodgers12

From there is was a rapid-fire series of posts from DeChambeau, Mickelson, Brady and Koepka.
Brady latched on to the meme version of the interview to kick things off as the undercard.

Then came the main event, with Bryson and Brooks going back and forth at one another.
@BKoepka It’s nice to be living rent free in your head!

Koepka responded with another clip, seemingly in an effort to show that it was him that was in DeChambeau’s head.

Bryson then also took a shot a Brady.
@TomBrady, once @AaronRodgers12 and I take down you and @PhilMickelson, you will feel just as deflated as those balls were in the AFC Championship game. pic.twitter.com/K3KobiDLya

All the while, Phil played devil’s advocate.
I feel like I’m in the middle of something and should step aside. (Except they want the CURRENT PGA champ:)

As for Rodgers, reports are that he’s enjoying a vacation with his fiancee in Hawaii, blissfully unaware of the social media warfare taking place ahead of July’s match.
However, the Koepka-DeChambeau rivalry is officially on and out in the open. And with two majors left on the docket as well as the FedEx Cup Playoffs coming up, it’s just getting started.
