Joel Dahmen isn’t playing in the Vivant Houston Open this week at Memorial Park, but that didn’t stop him from playing a fun, yet somewhat cruel prank on his friend and caddie Geno Bonnalie.
Coming off of a T8 finish at the Zozo Championship two weeks ago in California, Dahmen opted out of last week’s Bermuda Championship, which would have required some 3,000 miles of travel across four time zones.
And not playing in the Masters next week, Dahmen took the opportunity of an extended layoff to prank Bonnalie.
Bonnalie laid out the entire prank on Twitter in a thread that began, “What it’s like to caddie for Joel Dahmen…”

I then booked a flight, car, hotel, coordinated a sitter for the week, went to Home Depot and quickly finished up a bunch of little house projects.

4:30pm-Joel calls.
“What are you doing?”“Packing. My flight leaves early tomorrow”
J: “why are you packing?”
“Cause I’m going to Houston!”(Very confused)
J: “Haha! I knew you’d fall for that. We’re not playing Houston”

Thankfully for Bonnalie, he confirmed to some skeptics that all of his reservations could be undone and Dahmen will be getting a comeuppance when the time is right.
Nothing that couldn’t be undone. He’ll get his payback

For all we know, Dahmen could have saved Bonnalie another night in a truck stop motel like he stayed in for the U.S. Open earlier this year.
