Take Big Numbers Out Of Play Around The Green

When you find yourself in a difficult position around the green, either with an in-between lie a few paces off the green or with trouble long of the green, instead of bringing triple bogey into play with a lofted club, opt instead for a hybrid or fairway wood and take the big number out of play.

You’ll want to read the topography as if you were playing a putt, and then embrace the idea of putting the ball with a different club. Don’t hold your hybrid or fairway like normal; stand a little closer to the ball, choke way up on the club and from there, hit it like a putt.
